about me
We are a group of performers and friends, trying to use today's technology to get more friends interested in our music. It is primarilly a Cappella, but is occasionally accompanied by acoustic instruments.
The songs we do are mostly the work chants used by 19th C. sailors to get a lot of hard labor done with fewer hands. We also perform the "Forebitters" or songs these sailors sang to entertain themselves on their off hours as well as "Sea Songs" (modern songs written about many of the same subjects, often by sailors, historians and folkies.)
Much of this music sounds like its roots: English, Irish and Scottish ballads, African American Slave songs and Barbadian work songs. It also sounds like its cousins Country and Bluegrass, who share the same roots, but grew up in a different neighborhood.
