Remember some years back, when a refusal to hire anybody for any position until he had 2-5 years of relevant work experience was one of the latest management fads, and no nonrhetorical answers to the question "how is somebody supposed to get experience if nobody is willing to give him a chance to get that first job" were ever heard? Remember the question "what if nobody is ever willing to give me that chance", and how the "kids" were told to not worry about that, because "somebody" - that mysterious ill-defined "somebody" - would surely do so?

In my case, nobody ever did, and after a while, the fact of my long term unemployment began to be cited as a reason for further discrimination in employment, leaving me to scratch out such a living as I could obtain while hoping to somehow raise the resources needed to emigrate out of this miserable hellhole of a country. Now, if only I had somewhere to emigrate to. I'll have to work on that.
