Good stuff
Great old REAL old fashioned diner. So much better than the crappy Silver Diner. Silver Diner is a joke. This place is the real thing!
I think there's more than 6 booths but not many more. Nice long lunch counter to sit at too. Friendly no frills service. - ß®1@ñ , posted 12/28/05

Diner cooking at its best
For Northern VA at least. I discovered this little (and I mean TINY) place while toodling around GMU. Denny's was too much of a freak show for me - diagonal across the street from Tastee, so we headed to the 29 Diner.

CASH ONLY - is the first thing we learn. The jukebox is all men is hats tunes, which works extremely well to help the atmosphere. There are only 3 non-smoking seats and they are right in front of the grill.

Great thing is they let you sit all night long with unlimited refills of coffee, provided you actually order something off the menu. The grilled cheese and fries are fantastic and the grits are supremely awesome. The butter is on the bottom of these babies.

Unless they've revamped the place, I remember 6 booths total and about seating for 12 along the counter area. Booths are hard to get on certain times of the night, but if you work a late shift and want cheap but great food...go to the Tastee 29 Diner. - Margot , posted 08/07/05
