A little health temple just off Rt 66 in Vienna
There really is something subtly holy about this place. The miso and wonton soups are both absolutely outstanding and have legendary healing powers. There's a huge menu full of vegetarian and vegan options, and the service is very friendly and professional. This is also the best place to take meat-eating friends of yours for vegetarian food, since the fake meat here comes in many forms and is outstanding in all of them. The desserts are the only noteworthy weak spot here, probably just because it's hard to generate a convincing dessert that's both vegan and low-sugar. Lunch specials are a fantastic bargain, but the larger dinner portions usually give you a take-away box for lunch tomorrow. - Alazka , posted 12/02/06

Best vegetarian restaurant in Northern Virginia
Sunflower makes hearty, delicious Chinese and Japanese organic vegan cuisine. Their decor is all on a sunflower theme. Their food is excellent, their service is very good, they're affordable. As a vegetarian there's no place I'd rather go. If anyone thinks vegetarian organic food has to be bland, you have to try Sunflower. It is so tasty, one bite and you will forget all about the old stereotypes of tasteless vegan food. I recommend their curries, their vegan General Tso, and their "fried chicken." In a lot of their recipes, soy protein replaces meat. They fix it really well. This place is usually very crowded, with long waits to be seated at peak hours. - Johanna-Hypatia , posted 08/27/06
