This is a fantastic brand new, independent, unique cafe that just opened in the heart of Herndon, specializing in amazing desserts (they carry much of the Cheesecake Factory menu), sandwiches, croissants (from Vie de France), internet, a business center set up for Ebay sales and shipping...whew! They also carry a wide range of healthy snacks, Cricket sodas, and Seattle's Best coffees etc. I'm docking them a star because the service has been a little slow the past few times I've gone in, but the ambience is really great (although it'd be much better if they'd get rid of the CNN-spouting TVs, IMHO) and the hours are pretty impressive. So naturally I'm really worried that this beautiful, original, creative, bold little establishment in my town won't last a year because (a) they're competing against Starbucks and (b) they're focusing on creating a really nice cafe/internet experience in a recession. Check 'em out sometime, and who knows, maybe they'll survive long enough to book some bellydancers or other vivid and original live entertainment. And while you're in the neighborhood, check out the Great Harvest Bakery, or the Ethiopian shop around the corner, or Tortilla Factory for the world's best salsa, or Jimmy's Tavern, all within a block or two...Herndon's totally where it's at, y'all!
