Workout for the Bedroom
Ever since I decided to sign up for my first class at Mamasita Studio in Takoma Park DC, I have been back every week! Not only have I learned all of the wonders bellydancing does for your overall health (releasing toxins from the liver, overall balance and posture, healing fibroids and other womb issues) but I have been able to bless my husband with all of these new moves! Now the whole family is happy! It feels natural, the way a woman should move...thank you Mamasita and Bellydancers of Color Association! See you at Bellydance EXPO 2009! - Unsubscribed , posted 11/09/08

If But for The Diva Thing.....
Dance is OK, Attitude is Not
My experience at MamaSita Cultural Center? The dance is OK, but the attitude is not. I wouldn't recommend Mamasita to any student new to Bellydance. There are many other bellydance schools in DC that teach the art just as well or better. For those interested in Black belly dancers/Belly dancers of color (or any other ethnicity), Mamasita would be perfect if not for the fact that it is a very clannish, unprofessional, and unfriendly place.

Unfortunately, the unfriendly atmosphere and the ever-present negative influence of founder and regular instructor Sunyatta Amen permeated the entire environment of the MamaSita Cultural Center and cast a pall over many of the positive aspects the organization claims to promote.

Negative comments and personal attacks that have nothing to do with dance have no place at a dance school.

Mamasita Cultural Center's "idea" of healing and positivity is admirable, but will remain unfulfilled and un-teachable until the diva-esque founder and instructor heals her own bitter, envious, angry, and insecure soul. - Everythin' Dance , posted 08/17/07
