Nothing fancy, just the best Alabama BBQ in town!
Okay, so it's stuck in a tacky strip mall in Woodbridge. Yes, the decor consists mainly of all manner of pig collectables. But just open your nose, wow, that smell is amazing! Dixie Bones has a real pit and slow BBQ's pork, beef brisket, chicken, ribs and serves them up with homemade sides like beans, slaw, greens, cabbage, macaroni & cheese and muddy spuds (don't ask, just try them!).
I am not a big fan of their ribs, but the other things on the menu more than make up for it. The beef has this amazing sweetness, which is augmented by the sweet, not hot, homemade BBQ sauce on the table.
The big treat is the Sunday buffet, where people line up before the noon opening to get a chance to sample all the goodness they care to eat. Just don't overstuff yourself, save room for homemade pie for dessert. Oh, what the heck, stuff yourself and take a piece of pie home for later.
They also cater and at the holidays offer smoked turkeys and hams. Not cheap, but really fantastic.
