A nature run, sightseeing tour, historical study all in one
You can travel the C&O Canal path from Georgetown to West Virginia if you have the time and the stamina. On any given day you might share the path with groups of runners, mountain bikers, walkers, bird watchers, dog walkers and families, but there always seems to be enough space for everyone.

In DC you can watch canoers paddle the canal or kayakers on the adjacent Potomac River...in Maryland you can check out the nature preserves, the historic stone structures, the ducks in the canal and you may even see a heron or two.

Beautiful place for a stroll or for a long distance training run. - EssDub , posted 04/19/05
