Andrew continues to expand & mature. His new release is proof of that and more. I'm not a fan of his old stuff or his bands...so forget his past. He's blending alternative folk & rock with an indie sensibility. Political & social underpinning lyrics coupled with lush string arrangements....hmmm. He'll play the violin with a mandolin strapped to his side live going back & forth all acoustic... sometimes a full rocking band or electronic backup. Who knows, it's all up for grabs with Mr. Bird. Some of my faves from "Armchair Apocrypha": 'Imitosis', 'Darkmatter', 'Heretics', 'Plasticities', & 'Scythian Empires'. His show at the 9:30Club in D.C. 5/20/07 will be broadcast on NPR. He'll be doin dates in Europe & the U.S. this summer. The Austin City Music Festival 9/15/07 is one of those. - Scot , posted 06/09/07 |
