Vice President of Finance
SUMMARY
This position reports to the Vice President of Finance and will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting responsibilities for the airline including interdepartmental coordination as well as oversight of any outsourced accounting functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supervises and participates in the preparation of required financial statements and reports for a public company.
* Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management and accounting.
* Directs the maintenance of all areas of the general and subsidiary ledgers, including but not limited to: accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, operating expenses, insurance records, maintenance reserves, inventory, barter, fuel, debt, equity, etc.
* Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies.
* Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems to meet both internal and external audit requirements.
* Assists in the establishment of processes and procedures to meet audit committee charter requirements.
* May be called upon to present financial statement analysis to Sr. Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Undergraduate degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
* Four to seven years experience in accounting or related function.
* CPA preferred.
* Must have comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP. Knowledge of UK requirements a plus.
* Must have experience with SEC reporting
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the company and with customers. Ability to promote cooperation and coordination between Finance, Operating, and Corporate Divisions.
* Advanced computer skills including Excel spreadsheet, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Word, and general ledger software (Oracle, SAS, JDE, etc.)
* Highly organized individual with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
* Flexibility to work additional hours and travel as required.
